Shaws Little League also conducts a cricket programme for children between the ages of six and 12.
Our group classes or individual classes aim to improve skill development in all areas of cricket – batting, spin and pace bowling, fielding, and running between the wickets. Our programme is based on teaching the fundamentals of cricket whilst allowing children to develop their own style.
With our developmentally appropriate curriculum and our age appropriate equipment (all equipment is provided), your child is sure to have lots of fun, develop fantastic cricket skills and most importantly, the love for cricket.
Our programme is nothing like the cucumber sandwiches and tea breaks, but instead runs in the same manner as our regular sessions with an emphasis of having fun, high participation and skill acquisition. In a nutshell, we want all the children to bat like Virat Kohli, bowl like Mitchell Starc, and field like Ravindra Jadeja. Regardless of your child’s cricketing ability, we are sure that they will benefit from our cricket programme.
At present, our cricket coaching sessions are conducted at our Kallang location on Thursdays at 5pm and Sundays at 9am and 11am.
In addition to the mid-week coaching sessions, we also conduct our super cricket matches on weekends. As you will know a full game of cricket takes quite a long time and not all players are involved in the game at all times. Our super cricket programme ensures that all children are involved in the game at all times and get to have a chance at batting, bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping. Children will not only have a fun time but also know how many runs they scored, their bowling figures and how many catches and runouts they achieved.
Our staff all ensure that tangible and beneficial coaching advice is given while the games are being played and also work to ensure that the game moves along quickly so children have more actual playing time. Allowances are also made for the developmental level of children whereby a combination of tennis balls, pro-soft balls and hard balls are used. We also have a bowling machine that we use as part of our coaching programme.
We are very certain that your child will benefit from our cricket coaching sessions as well as our super cricket matches.
Our cricket programme is managed and led by Alpesh Puna, who has extensive playing and coaching experience in New Zealand where he played age group state cricket in and obtained cricket coaching qualifications. After moving to Singapore, he continues his passion for cricket as a player and coach. His crichq player profile is here.
